The Signpost to Polish Success invites you to once again celebrate Fat Thursday, a day when Polish people across the world consume doughnuts before starting to fast for Lent. Join us to learn more about Polish culture and customs with online arts and craft activities and fun for all the family – in Polish and in English!
This year we are drawing inspiration from Pucheroki, a centuries old tradition celebrated on Palm Sunday in and around Krakow. The custom was created out of necessity by the students of Jagiellonian University who, after paying a fortune for their studies, often had to resort to begging for food and money. They used to dress up in turned inside out sheepskin coats and high hats, originally made from straw, then colourful paper. Tune in for this online workshop and learn how to make your own Pucheroki hat with us!
This workshop will be live streamed online on NAE’s YouTube channel and on East Midlands Po Polsku’s Facebook page. So you can join in the fun!
For this activity you will need some materials such as crepe paper, glue and a basic birthday hat. We will be providing a limited amount of packs with art materials which you will need to collect at our office (Forest Rd W, NG7 4EP) from Tue 2nd February, collections between Tue-Thu, 9.30-11am.
