The Signpost to Polish Success (SPS) is a Charitable Company (Registered Charity No. 1126928, Company No. 6693843) based in Nottingham that provides a range of services for Eastern European migrants who arrived in the UK after the EU enlargement in 2004.

We are looking for:

This post is funded for 12 months, further employment possible, dependant on availability of funding (SPS will continue fundraising to obtain necessary funds to continue this post.) The successful candidate will have to complete a four month probationary period. The confirmed hours of work are 30 hours per week (flexible hours).

Salary – £19 557 pa pro rata. Successful completion of the probationary period will lead to a pay rise (£20 557 pa pro rata). The NEST pension scheme is available.

This person will provide one-to-one information/guidance/support sessions at the SPS premises. These sessions will take place approx. 5/6 hours per day, over 4 days per week. The remaining hours will be spent completing necessary administrative work, attending meetings and events, networking, training, assisting with the provision of remaining SPS services (publication of East Midlands po Polsku, organising workshops and events, ESOL courses, office tasks). The applicant will ideally have experience of working with the Eastern European community and the voluntary sector, have knowledge of the structures of charities and community organisations. This person may undergo training which will enable them to provide information suitable to the needs of Eastern European migrants. He/she will be fluent in both written and spoken English and Polish, he/she will be computer literate and he/she will be able to contribute towards other services provided by SPS. Knowledge of other Eastern European languages would be an advantage. He/she will demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Eastern European migrants to the UK, will be positively inclined towards economic migrants, keen to provide them with knowledge, skills and a greater understanding of local society to give them confidence to deal with their own problems/issues. He/she will have ‘can do’ attitude and be empathetic.

The successful candidate will have to complete a four-month probationary period. The confirmed hours of work are 22.5 hours per week (flexible hours).

Salary – £19 557 to £21 475 pa pro rata, depending on the level of skills. The NEST pension scheme is available.

The successful candidate will contribute towards the publishing of the East Midlands po Polsku (EMpP), newspaper (researching information, writing articles, proofreading, obtaining photographs), 10 issues per year. He/she must be interested in the news and events relevant to the local community, and will be responsible for preparing the content (texts and photographs) for sending to a graphic designer. He/she will be responsible for marketing in the newspaper ‘East Midlands po Polsku’ (EMpP), i.e. identifying advertising clients and securing advertisements for EMpP. They will be responsible for managing East Midlands po Polsku Facebook website and ideally a YouTube channel. SPS administers its own website, therefore knowledge of a WordPress is desired. The successful candidate will assist in organising SPS workshops, Family Events and will actively contribute towards all other activities provided by SPS. He/she will provide general admin support and prepare necessary paperwork for SPS committee meetings, AGMs, staff meetings and other organisational meetings, write agendas, minutes and create Power Point presentations (training will be provided). They will have the skills to obtain statistics from SPS services, will be able to prepare monitoring reports for SPS activities (training will be provided) He/she will liaise with our partner organisations and occasionally travel within the East Midlands area or networking over Zoom may be required. He/she will undertake any other SPS duties as directed by the management. This person should have an understanding of issues relating to vulnerable communities. He/she should possess good IT skills (Microsoft Office, WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Zoom, StreamYard, or other communication platforms), be fluent in both written and spoken English and Polish.
